Since ancient times Frankincense has been used for medicinal and religious purposes. Early Egyptians used it in their embalming process. In ancient Greece, it was an antidote to hemlock poisoning, and the Chinese used it for trading as well as an internal and external remedy. Today, it is most popular for its fragrance but many also recognize it for its anti-inflammatory, antiseptic, and diuretic properties. Frankincense has also been shown to help with anxiety, hysteria, emotional fatigue, nervousness, congestion, immune deficiency, insomnia, asthma, bronchitis, emphysema, and indigestion.
There are 52 references to frankincense oil in the Bible. Never forget that Frankincense was one of the beautiful gifts that were brought to baby Jesus on the night of his birth by one of the three wise men.
Word of Caution:
Frankincense is generally considered safe however pregnant women and people taking any kind of medication should consult their health practitioner before using it.
